an ethnography of funga – Viva exhibition

8th – 10th december 2025
Edinburgh College of Art

The show presents my illustrated ethnography of funga and human-fungi relationships–the practice-based side of my doctoral research. I set up the exhibition for my PhD Viva examination and the ECA community. It laid out the finalised PhD portfolio and some original illustrations, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the visuals and narratives through a pathway designed with threads organising the room. Playing with light, some exhibited pages and artworks could be seen through, thus superimposing texts with visuals and contributing to shaping the show as a whole.

As a second exhibition of the PhD creative outcomes, it could be the start of a touring exhibition, aiming to open dialogues on fungi and our relationship with them. Feel free to contact me via the contact form on this website if you are interested in hosting an exhibition of my portfolio. Some photographs and the video by M.A.
